The Scotia Storm U-16 Girls Civics soccer team won the St. Thomas Tournament over the Canada Day weekend.

"I am very proud of this team and they were rewarded for all their hard work and determination. These young ladies proved to be true ambassadors and were outstanding in representing the city of Sault Ste. Marie," said coach Rob Vagnini.

The Storm's championship run concluded with 3-1 victory over the London United Lightning in the final thanks to three goals from Stevie Reville.

In the semi-final, the locals cruised to a 6-1 win over London's Norwest Energie. Reville and Jessica Nanne scored two goals each while Amanda Kubik and Meri-Beth Manual added a goal each.

In the preliminary round, the Storm rode the goaltending of Shannan Delrosabil to three consecutive shutouts.

The locals were held scoreless in a draw with London United Primavera while Tina Vagnini and Reville scored in a 2-0 victory over Windsor Thistle. Reville and Sara Amato found the net twice each and Vagnini added another in a 5-0 drubbing of Norwest Energie.
