The Dundee Wealth Management Sault Shock U-14 Girls demonstrated that teamwork, tenacity and discipline are a winning combination, in an 'electrifying' performance at this past weekend's Sudbury Panhellenic International Soccer Tournament.

The girls brought home the Cup after five well fought matches that kept the competition scoreless.

In the championship match against the Woodstock Pacers, Jessica D'Angelo opened the scoring early in the game and followed up with a second to give The Shock a comfortable lead going into the second half. Katie Mullin provided further insurance with a strike late in the half to solidify their win.

An outstanding defensive effort by Amy Koretz and Stephanie Luciani, coupled with world cup class goal keeping by Taylor Smith, kept the ball from the back of the Sault net.

During Round Robin play, The Shock faced Woodstock, Timmins, North Bay and Sudbury.

In an action filled game against Woodstock, D'Angelo struck with the opener and Jessica Gencarelli followed suit in a two–nil victory. Once again, a strong defense supported by Karly Meincke, Chantelle Rose and Jessica Howarth, proved too strong for the Pacers. Smith earned the shut out.

The Timmins squad provided tough competition, but The Shock's defense were able to fend off the attacks and Emily Hillstrom found the back of the net with the assistance of Brenna Pevato and Kristen Fergus in a one–nil win.

North Bay attempted to neutralize The Shock, but were unsuccessful as D'Angelo was able to place one by the North Bay keeper. Lauren Rosset's midfield play limited the North Bay advances and Smith once again responded with a shut out.

The Shock was flawless in the tournament opener against the Sudbury Panhellenic home team. Jasmine Roy connected for the first goal and D'Angelo supplied the security to lead the team to a two–nil victory. Nicole Maione, Katie Pietrzakowski, and Amanda Martens subdued the Sudbury team's scoring attempts by controlling play in the defensive zone.
