U-14 Civics capture league Kick Off Cup

The Seamless Eavestrough Under-14 Girls Civics soccer team opened their season with a championship at the Western Ontario Youth Soccer League Kick Off Cup tournament in London two weekends ago.

Competing in the newly formed WOYSL, the Civics will have a schedule of home games played at Tom Tipton Field and away games in cities such as London, Windsor and Kitchener among others. At the WOYSL Kick Off Cup tournament, the locals used a combination of strong defense, excellent goaltending and timely scoring as they went undefeated in 5 games en route to the tournament championship.

In preliminary play, the Civics played the Southwest Tornados and London City Flash to scoreless ties while beating the Kitchener Spirit A team 3-1.

The Civics nipped Windsor's Eastside Kickers 2-1 in the semi-final before edging the Tornados 1-0 in the final.
