U-13 Civics return home with silver

The Sal-Dan Strickers U-13 boys Civics soccer team, coached by Howard Gray, returned home with a silver medal from the 2007 Alliance FC Spring Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Sunday's results:

Game 3 vs Tri-City Strikers – Grand Haven, Michigan Sal-Dan Strikers (5) – Tri-City Strikers (1)

Another offensive showing by the boys on the pitch. Jacob Patterson was strong in the net again this morning. Goals scored by Nicholas Tassone, Marco Florio, Corey Conforzi, Matthew Fagan and Owen Hillstrom.

Semi-final vs Aurora Soccer Club – Aurora, Ontario Sal-Dan Strikers (2) – Aurora Soccer Club (1)

A much closer game than the score shows. The Strikers had to work really hard in this one to squeak by with the win. Near the end of the second half the heat was starting to have an effect on the players, but they worked through it. Nicholas Tassone and Jemmett Kirk were the goal scorers.

FINAL vs Michigan Future Stars – Sterling Heights, Michigan Sal-Dan Strikers (0) – Michigan Future Stars (4)

A 5pm game time along with several hours of playing in the sun finally took its toll on the Sal-Dan Strikers with their first loss coming at the hands of the Michigan Future Stars; nonetheless the boys came home with silver and knowing that they can compete against some very good teams.
