U-11 Civics score wins at Henderson tourney

The Sault Hearing First U-11 Girls Civics soccer team returned home from the 29th Annual Henderson Soccer Tournament in London with a 2-1 record. Despite scoring a pair of wins, the Civics missed out on a semi-final berth on a tiebreaker.

The Sault Hearing First U-11 Girls Civics soccer team returned home from the 29th Annual Henderson Soccer Tournament in London with a 2-1 record.

Despite scoring a pair of wins, the Civics missed out on a semi-final berth on a tiebreaker.

In the opening game, Brooke Bellerose provided shutout goalkeeping in a 1-0 win over London United. Hannah Murray scored the lone goal.

Murray recorded two goals while singles went to Danita Caruso, Amy Francella, Bronte Yaneau and Brittany Peterson in a 6-0 blanking of the Southwest Lightning. Riley Smith picked up the shutout.

In the third game, the Civics fell 3-0 to the Ajax Strikers.

The game also spelled the end of the Civic's season, where they finished 10-3-1 in tournament play.

The team was coached by Ven Mazzuca and Dan Fritz.
