OHL Announces top scholastic players for first semester of 2007-08

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the top student athletes for the semester one of the 2007-08 school year.

Every OHL player is currently in high school or post-secondary school or have already graduated from high school. The OHL player’s success rate in high school for the first semester of this year was 96% while the success rate for university was 94% and for Independent Learning Centre, the success rate was 100%.

“In addition to their hockey commitments, our players work very hard to be successful in the classroom as well,” said Joe Birch, the OHL’s Director of Recruitment and Education Services. “We are very proud of these high success rates as it shows that our teams are continuing to put a great deal of importance on a player’s commitment to school. This helps make a very smooth transition for the hundreds of players that graduate from our league and accept OHL scholarships to continue their hockey and academic careers in Canadian universities.

195 OHL graduates are currently playing Canadian University hockey on scholarships from their OHL clubs.
