Thursday's Mayor's Cup results

Four games were played on Thursday as the Mayor's Cup City Men's Hockey League playoff championship continued at the Pee Wee Arena and John Rhodes Community Centre.

In the 33+ division, Darren Evans scored two goals to lift Tulloch Engineering past Smack Daddy's 6-2. Rock Bouchard added a goal and two assists while Travis Halerow and Scott Sloss each scored once and set up another. Brad Webkamigad also scored once and Frank Giaconne added a pair of helpers. Joe Albert and Trevor Robidoux each replied with a goal and an assist in the loss.

The American Mohawks defeated Microage/Smack Daddy's 7-5 on the strength of a two goal and two assist effort by Joe Micolo. Sid Bradley also scored twice, Al Bouschor added a goal and three assists while Greg McLean and Cory Metro potted one each. Jerome Mayor recorded a pair of assists. Greg Oja and Kevin Auger answered with two goals and two assists each for Microage/Smack Daddy's with Doug Witty rounding out the scoring.

In the open division, Nick Chanas scored four times to lead the Soo Kings to a 6-2 victory over Assante Capital/Mr. Transmission. Jeff Green added a goal and two assists for the winners while Gary Armstrong scored the other. Ken Belanger and Ken Smith set up two goals each. Lane Berton and Chris Miller replied with goals in a losing cause while Greg Mizzi set up both.

In an overtime shootout at the Rhodes, McDougall Fuels edged the Wawa Travelers Alumni 9-8. Tim Johns and Jody Wilson scored in the shootout to erase Tyler Gendron's marker for the Alumni and give McDougall Fuels the win.

In regulation time, Johns led McDougall Fuels with three goals and an assist and Curtis Cress scored twice with singles going to Luke Hopkins, who also added four assists, Mike Killoren and Corey Sewell.

Gendron and Kyle Wood recorded two goals and an assist each for the Alumni with singles picked up by Matt Conway, who set up three others, Adam Kauppi, who added a helper, Ian Jamieson and Tyson Sweezey. Troy McLaughlin and Derek Doyle had two assists each.
