Back in Black: Curling's ultimate guide returns for 2007-08

TORONTO --–CurlingZone.com and BDO Dunwoody LLP have teamed up to produce the third installment of the ultimate guide to the sport of curling. And this time, the product is available as a fundraising tool for curling clubs, leagues and teams.

The 2007-2008 edition of the BDO Black Book of Curling is packed full of essential curling information, previews and photos for the ultimate curling fan. Authored by Dallas Bittle of Calgary, Alberta, and Gerry Geurts of London, Ontario, the owners of the popular web portal CurlingZone.com, the BDO Black Book of Curling boasts over 300 pages of stories, statistics, team analysis, rankings, records and archived data, all updated to the current fall curling season.

"This book is now a mandatory read for the competitors,” said Glenn Howard, skip of the world championship men's team from Canada and the number-one ranked men's squad in the Black Book for 2007-08. “As a curling fan, you’ve got to have it. But as a player, I need to know how my own offense and defense ranks with my opponents. I'm checking out their numbers, and I know they're checking out mine.”

The Black Book continues to push the boundaries of detail, including the field of competitor performance. Everything from the difficulty of the attempted shot to whether it required sweeping is tracked and reported, providing a better reflection of how an athlete curled in a particular game.

"This opens up a new world for the curling fan,” said Bittle. “The old methods really hadn't been changed for 25 years, and now there is so much more a fan can enjoy, either watching the sport on TV or in person, or when it's time to play themselves.”

"We are proud to partner with CurlingZone to deliver the BDO Black Book of Curling to more curling fans, in Canada and around the world,” said Gordon Lee, National Marketing Director of BDO Dunwoody LLP. “The Black Book provides an essential service to curling fans, players, administrators and partners. It’s also an amazing read.”

BDO Dunwoody LLP has been a proud sponsor of curling for many years, through various grass roots event and team sponsorships and also the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling's BDO Classic Canadian Open, this year happening from November 28 to December 2 in Québec City.

The BDO Black Book of Curling also serves as a fundraising product for curling clubs, leagues and teams through an innovative delivery program. Half of the $19.95 cover price of each book can be directed to the seller, making the BDO Black Book of Curling a valuable tool at the grass roots level.
