Summer basketball returns to Algoma U

The Algoma University Varsity Athletics Department is pleased to offer its 2nd Annual ALGOMA U Summer Basketball League. All league games will take place at the George Leach Centre, located on the campus of Algoma University College.

The quality of basketball within Sault Ste Marie is growing and this summer league will provide local talent a great opportunity to keep their skills sharp during the summer months. Six to eight teams are expected to participate this season.

The Summer Basketball League is a competitive basketball league for players in Grade 10 and above. Separate divisions will be created for men's and ladies teams.

Registration for this year's league is being done on a team basis. Captains must submit completed registration forms along with league fees for their entire team prior to the posted deadline. Those who are interested but are not part of a team are encouraged to contact the league organizers who will try to place them on an appropriate team.

We are very excited about the Algoma U Summer Basketball League and we are sure you will enjoy a great experience this summer.

* Structured competitive league - play begins May 27th * Ladies and Men's divisions * Team uniforms will be provided * All teams are guaranteed 8 games * Each team will have a captain * Games will consist of 20 minute halves, stop time * Play- offs & awards * One game a week – Men play Sunday evenings; Women play Monday evening * Game times approx 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 pm * Great, safe, air conditioned facilities * Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the game * Standings; recorded and posted weekly

Captains are encouraged to register their teams by returning one form perplayer before the registration deadline (May 18, 2007) along with team fees ($600 per team, includes $100 refundable uniform deposit) to the George Leach Centre on the campus of Algoma University College.
