St. Mary's blanks White Pines in football

The St. Mary’s Knights improved to 2-1 on Friday night thanks to a 42-0 victory over White Pines in senior high school football action.

The St. Mary’s Knights improved to 2-1 on Friday night thanks to a 42-0 victory over White Pines in senior high school football action.

Colton Read had a pair of touchdowns, catching touchdown passes of 29 and 49 yards from Johnny Hammond in the victory.

Hammond finished the day with four touchdown passes.

Hammond also hit Greg Caruso (10 yards) and Blake Antonello (17 yards). Dalton Toppan also caught a touchdown pass (24 yards).

Marcus Sacchetta ran in for a 25-yard touchdown run for St. Mary’s.

Tristan Marshall had 76 yards on 20 carries for White Pines.

In junior football action on Friday, Superior Heights beat Korah 30-7.

Senior football action continues on Oct. 1 when White Pines faces Superior Heights at Superior Heights in a 4:30 kickoff. The following day, St. Mary’s faces Korah at 7 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field.
