The St. Basil Saints tasted victory for the first time in 20 games with a win over the Korah Colts on Friday night.

After compiling a 0-18-1 record since their last victory in the High School Football League senior division, the Saints defeated the Colts 10-7 on a chilly night at Rocky DiPietro Field.

St. Basil improves to 1-3 while Korah falls to 0-4 and are officially eliminated from post season play.

Kyle Hoffman opened the scoring for the Saints on a two yard touchdown run 5:52 into the first quarter before the Korah answered back just a few plays later when Mike Burmaster scampered 72 yards for the major score.

St. Basil scored the game winning points 2:41 into the second quarter when Steve Pandzik booted a 22 yard field goal for the 10-7 lead.

Hoffman had a solid rushing game with 167 yards on 26 carries while Justin Minelli ran for 42 yards on 10 carries.

Defensively for the Saints, Rob Amadio made 9.5 tackles and Mike Wozny five while Dan Buonomo recovered two fumbles and Josh McFarlane pounced on another. David Pozzebon and Wozny grabbed interceptions.

For the Colts, Burmaster led the running game with 113 yards on just five carries while also leading his team in receiving with three catches for 83 yards. Kyle Diotte completed four of 17 passses for 60 yards while Christian Johnson completed a 50 yard option pass to Burmaster.

Luke Critchley anchored the Korah defense with 11.5 tackles while Riley King added 8.5, Johnson eight, Chris Casagrande 5.5 and Matt Vernelli 5.5 and an interception. Jordan Ramsay recovered a fumble.

Action continues on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field with a matchup between two unbeaten teams in the St. Mary's Knights and Sir James Dunn Eagles.

*** JUNIOR:

In the junior division, St. Basil remained undefeated with a 19-14 win over the Colts.

Nick Young on a two yard run, Jake Lake on a 30 yard scamper and Jesse Carriere on a 50 yard interception return gave the Saints a 19-0 lead.

Jordan Lang replied with both touchdowns during the Colts rally on runs of three and 55 yards.

Dylan O'Hara booted a pair of converts for the Colts while Scott Martin kicked one for the Saints.
