Sports Gold Mosquito Black Sox Win Wallaceburg Tournament

***NEWS RELEASE***

On Saturday the Sports Gold Mosquito Black Sox beat Belle River in their first game 12-3. Coty Anderson pitched the first three innings and had 3 earned runs with 3 strike outs and Travis Quevillon threw 3 shut out innings with help from his stingy defence . Aaron Savage helped the offence with a home run and a single. Coty Anderson had a double and a walk. Owen Headrick had 2 singles. Every player helped out with a single and a walk.

In game two Eric Thornton threw three innings with 8 strike outs and Cody Yardanoff tossing four innings and 3 strike outs for a 10-1 win over Pelham a team out of Niagara Falls.

The score was 1- 0 Pelham in the 4th inning before the Soo rallied and scored 10 runs in the next 3 innings. The offence was spread out again by the whole team.

With the Sox's 2-0 record on Saturday, they earned the birth in the Gold medal game on Sunday at 2PM where they faced a tough McGregor squad. In the gold medal game, Thornton threw 4 innings and struck out 7 batters and Yardanoff finished the final 3 innings with 4 strike outs for a 5-2 victory.

Coty Anderson had a double, triple and 2 walks at 4 at bats , Aaron Savage had a triple to help out for the win.

The coaching staff are very pleased with the team's effort so far this season and look forward to the Chatham tournament August 3rd.
