Brad Jacobs and his team from Soo Curlers is back in action this week as the team takes part in the Elite 10 Grand Slam of Curling event being held this weekend in Fort McMurray, Alta.
The event, which is a match play tournament, opened on Thursday with Jacobs in action for a pair of games.
The rules of the tournament mean teams play to win each end by scoring at least two points (with the hammer) or stealing one (without the hammer). If an end is blanked, the hammer switches for the following end. The team with the most ends wins the game.
Teams receive three points for a regulation win, two for winning in an extra end (a draw to the button shootout) and a single point for losing in an extra end.
Jacobs opened the tournament in the first draw by beating Kevin Koe. With the hammer and leading one-up, Jacobs drew to the button in the final end to cap off the win.
Jacobs would finish the day with a split after losing to Brad Gushue in the third draw to finish day one with a 1-1 record.
Jacobs is back in action on Friday in draw five against Sven Michel of Switzerland at 3:30 eastern time.
