Spirit deflates Greyhounds

The Soo Greyhounds fell flat on Friday night as the Saginaw Spirit cruised to a 6-2 win on home ice. Building a 4-0 lead by the 27 second mark of the second period, the Spirit never looked back to grab the first game of a home-and-home set.

The Soo Greyhounds fell flat on Friday night as the Saginaw Spirit cruised to a 6-2 win on home ice.

Building a 4-0 lead by the 27 second mark of the second period, the Spirit never looked back to grab the first game of a home-and-home set.

The teams square off again on Sunday at the Steelback Centre beginning at 7 p.m.

Dustin Jeffrey scored in the second period while Josh Godfrey added a third period marker for the Hounds, who outshot Saginaw 35-32.

Kyle Gajewski made the start in goal for the Hounds and was pulled after the fourth Spirit goal early in the second period.

Ryan McDonough scored two goals for the Spirit while singles went to Tyler Haskins, Ryan O'Marra, Patrck Asselin and Tom Pyatt.
