Ski Runners grab medals at Mealey Classic

Members of the Searchmont Ski Runners took home several medals from the Mealey Classic which was held February 16-18. Racers competing for medals and points were ages 11-18.

Members of the Searchmont Ski Runners took home several medals from the Mealey Classic which was held February 16-18.

Racers competing for medals and points were ages 11-18.

The winners from the Searchmont Ski Runners in the Super G races on February 16 for ladies were Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick (gold - J2), Meaghan Horbatuk (silver - K2), Kaili Labelle (gold - K1). The winners for the men were Devin Labelle (gold - K2) and Iain Hutchison (silver - K2).

The following day in the Giant Slalom for the ladies, Fitzpatrick picked up gold as did Horbatuk. Hutchison also raced to a gold medal.

In the Giant Slalom, Horbatuk and Devin Labelle each captured gold.

The K2 team along with coach Scott Smith travels to Thunder Bay for their upcoming provincial finals and the K1 team will gear up for the provincial finals that will take place at Searchmont March 15-17. Racers will be arriving throughout the week to prepare for the big event.
