David Ghent-Kyle saved his best for last and his best landed him a spot in international competition.

Thanks to a successful final two days of racing at the MARS Canadian Juvenile Alpine Championships in Banff, Alberta, Ghent-Kyle, a Sudbury native, landed a spot on Team Ontario for the Whistler Cup.

Action at the Whistler Cup begins next weekend featuring racers from across Canada and the world.

In Banff, Ghent-Kyle, a member of the Searchmont Ski Runners, placed 13th in the Slalom with a time of 1:30.89 on Saturday before posting an 18th place finish in Friday's Giant Slalom event in a combined time of two-minutes, 5.74 seconds. In the Super G, Ghent-Kyle placed 46th.

In other Ski Runner results, Greg Mosher finished 49th in the Slalom, did not finish the Giant Slalom and placed 66th in the Super G.

On the girls side, Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick finished 45th in the Giant Slalom, 34th in the Slalom and 46th in the Super G.

The Searchmont Ski Runners will conclude their season with an event this weekend in Timmins.
