Eight teams remain in search of two championships after quarterfinal action on Tuesday in the Girls High School Basketball League.

In senior division quarterfinal action, the St. Basil Saints, Korah Colts and Mount St. Joseph College Royals advanced to the semi-final round with victories on Tuesday.

The Saints handled the Sir James Dunn Eagles 54-27 on their home court on the strength of 11 points from Abby DiDonato, nine from Laura DiDonato and eight from Kristy Aloe. Stephanie Davies and Sarah Miller replied with eight points each for the Eagles.

At Korah, the Colts used 12 points from Sarah Levesque and 11 from Christina Medaglia in a 54-17 whipping of the Bawating Braves. Amanda Whitmell and Sarah Crispell led the Braves with six points each.

At the Mount, Miranda Chaimbrone scored 16 points and Vanessa Chaimbrone added 12 in a 39-26 Royals win over the White Pines Wolverines. Miriam Pinder paced the Wolverines attack with eight points while Ashley Clingen added seven.

*** JUNIOR:

At Korah, Kayla Odorizzi poured in 15 points to pace the Colts past White Pines 51-15. Lisa Jurich added nine points for the winners while Kendra Ford led the Wolverines with four.

At Sir James Dunn, Ali Wytsma and Allison Marinich scored 12 points each to lift the Eagles past Bawating 44-29. Kelsey Foster added 11 points for the winners while Brittany Thayer replied with 12 points for the Braves.

*** REFEREE'S AWARD NOMINEES:

Seven senior division players are in the running for the Lyn Cole Memorial Trophy, symbolic of the Referee's Award winner for the player best combining sportsmanship and ability.

This year's nominees include Amanda Whitmell (Bawating), Sarah Levesque (Korah), Miranda Chaimbrone (Mount St. Joseph), Lara Stilin (St. Basil), Kathleen Thorburn (St. Mary's), Stephanie Davies (Sir James Dunn) and Bridgit Hindermeier (White Pines).

The winner will be announced following the senior division championship game on Saturday at Korah.
