The 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft on Saturday night was an uneventful one from a Sault Ste. Marie perspective.

No player from the city or surrounding area and not one member of the current Soo Greyhounds roster were selected in the seven round draft.

Although a Greyhound European prospect in Jiri Tlusty was selected in the first round, 13th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It is possible that local fans could see Tlusty in a Greyhounds uniform this coming season but the Czech forward seems intent on returning home to develop.

Garden River product and Greyhound defenseman Trevor Solomon stood the best chance of being taken in Vancouver while the Hounds' Dustin Jeffrey, Brett Halstead and Josh Godfrey stood an outside shot of being drafted.
