Sault Shock U-15 Girls Civics Finalists at Cambridge Heritage Tournament (July 14/15)

The Shock demonstrated that determination and hard work are paramount to success in tournament play. After suffering a disappointing 2- 0 loss to Oakville in the opening game of the tournament, the girls fought back to gain a berth in the championship game. Once again though, they met the hard fighting Oakville Arsenal and were out muscled 3 -0.

In semi – final action against Bolton, Chantal Rose scored from a free kick in the opening minutes of sudden death overtime to send The Shock to the finals. The entire team rallied to keep Bolton from finding the back of the Sault net.

The Quarter final match against Rochester, New York was another hard fought battle but the Sault Shock outlasted their opponents and earned a 2- 1 victory. Jessica D’Angelo opened the scoring and Lauren Rosset followed suit with her marker.

Nicole Maione connected in round robin play against Bolton to give the team a 1-1 tie.

Sault Shock U – 15 Girls Advance to Finals at Sudbury Panhellenic Tournament (July 28/29)

In a high tempered championship match against the Kemptville Kougars, the Sault Shock U-15 girls were dealt a devastating blow as the Kougars defeated them 3-1 in a come from behind win. Jessica D’Angelo opened the scoring late in the first half, but the Shock was unable to hold off the Kemptville attack in the second half.

In round robin play, the Shock earned their first win against the Timmins entry. D’Angelo provided the lone marker while Taylor Smith earned the shut out in a 1-0 victory.

The Shock fought North Bay to a 2- 1 win in their second match. Nicole Maione found the back of the net to get them on the scoreboard and D’Angelo added a goal to clinch the win.

Sudbury Panhellenic proved to be worthy opponents but were unable to connect as the Sault defense held them off. Smith came through with the shutout and Chantal Rose scored for the Shock to defeat Sudbury 1 – 0.

Kemptville handed the Sault their first loss in the final round robin match. D’Angelo connected for the Sault but it was not enough as the Kemptville club was able to put 2 into the Sault net.
