Sault product has career night for North Bay

Sault Ste.

Sault Ste. Marie's Michael Amadio nearly tied a franchise record as he registered two goals along with four assists for a career-high six-point game as the North Bay Battalion upset the Central Division leading Barrie Colts 7-3 Sunday afternoon at Memorial Gardens.

Amadio finished one point behind the franchise record of seven points held by former NY Rangers forward Wojtek Wolski who finished with seven points in a game for the Battalion against the Erie Otters back in January of 2006.

The Battalion leading scorer has been adjusting to life without Zach Bratina; the team's leading goal scorer who was forced to retire from hockey last week due to another concussion he sustained in late October.

Amadio centred a new line with overage veteran Mathew Santos and newcomer Daniil Verity, who came over to the Battalion last week in a trade with Windsor.

"It was a great effort by our guys, obviously our line had an offensive outbreak, with me, Santos and our new addition Vertiy he’s been really good for us in Sudbury and again tonight and we were working really hard and the bounces went our way," said Amadio in a post game interview on Sunday.

It was a nice tune-up for the Los Angeles Kings prospect as he will represent Team OHL versus the Russians in Game 4 of the Subway Series Monday night.

"Tomorrow I just want to go out there and play my game and not worry about anything else. I'm just going to do what I do best and hopefully it works out for me," said Amadio who is in 15th in league scoring with 11 goals and 15 assists totalling 26 points in 19 games.
