Sault Minor Football report

JMC's David Toppan was a workhorse again Sunday scoring three touchdowns en route to JMC's 28-21 win over Rezolution in Sault Minor Football Association myte division action on Sunday.

Palmer Simpson also scored for the winners while Joshua Miskiw scored three touchdowns in a losing effort for Rezolution. JMC quarterback Palmer Simpson was named the game MVP.

In the other myte contest, Matthew Mitchell had two long touchdown runs in a 28-7 win over MemberCARE. Aiden MacLeod and Braedan Turco also scored for winners. Neil Shaule scored the only touchdown on a quarterback keeper for MemberCARE.

In the tyke division, Sports Gold scored early and often in their 51-18 defeat of Romes. Brock Hoover led the way with two touchdowns with singles going to Travis Mallette, Paul Orlando, Mario Bruni, Jordan Hoover and Kaitlyn Cameron. Marco Cuglietta led Rome's with two touchdowns and Jared Rimmer had the other.

Jake Wright and Spencer Macgillvary led the way with a touchdown each as Joey Calzone's edged Tin Grins 13-6 in the other game. Greg Gagnon replied with the major for Tin Grins.

In the bantam division, an attempt to concede a safety turned disastrous as Brody's lost a heartbreaker 8-6 to Firefighters.

An early touchdown by Justin Sauerzopf looked to be the winner until Brody's pinned deep in their own end in the late stages of the game decided to concede the safety and kick-off to Firefighters with under a minute to play.

The snap was botched and Firefighters' Max Cicchello jumped on the ball in the end zone to tie the game up. A two point convert sealed the game for Firefighters.

In the final contest, David Quesnele scampered for three touchdowns to lead Aurora's Westside past Scholars 26-6. Matt Buchan had the other score for the winners while Taylor Zalewski scored the touchdown for Scholars.
