Sault karate dojo hosts first tournament since pandemic

'The spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship was palpable': Sault Ste. Marie International Karate Daigaku welcomed the Bruce Mines Kitano dojo this past weekend

The Sault Ste. Marie International Karate Daigaku (SSM IKD) successfully hosted its first tournament since the pandemic.

The dojo welcomed the Bruce Mines Kitano dojo this past weekend.

“The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as competitors including tiny tigers and individuals with special needs demonstrated their dedication and proficiency in the martial arts,” SSM IKD said in a news release.

“The highlight of the tournament was the commendable achievements by many participants, who not only showcased their skills but also earned well-deserved medals. The spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship was palpable throughout the tournament, fostering a sense of unity and mutual respect.”

Spirit Awards were handed out to Bobby Vachon and Olivia Atkinson.
