**************************

Action was light locally the weekend of Jan. 11 - 13 for Sault Female Hockey Association Houseleague play, with eight of the twelve teams participating in out of town tournaments. The following is a wrap-up for how the Sault teams fared in their tournaments.

Pee Wee Division teams Headlines Hair & Day Spa, Meyers Munchies and Stitch King, took the trek to Midland Michigan to play, with Headlines coming away with the best showing, making it all the way to the finals.

Headlines

The final for Headlines was their best game of the season to date, turning in an amazing effort against the strong team from Farmington Hills. Headlines held a 1 - 0 lead through-out the first and second period, and part-way into the third, before Farmington Hills exploded for three late goals to earn a 3 - 1 victory. Scoring for Headlines was Darcee McCaig with Taylor Maitland assisting.

Meyers Munchies

Meyers won game one over Stitch King, shutting them out 3 - 0. Emilie Hodgson was in goal and posted the shut-out. Brooke Roach-Neville had two goals while Larissa Carlucci picked up the single, Roach-Neville was game MVP.

Game two, as noted above, was a 1 - 1 tie with Headlines. Alyssa Jones scored the Meyers goal with Alexandra Boudreau earning game MVP honours.

Game three Meyers was up against the tough Suburban Ice squad from Farmington Hills. Meyers gave them a good run for their money, but ended up on the wrong end of a 3 - 2 count. Larissa Carlucci scored both Meyers goals and was named game MVP.

Stitch King Stitch King ended up making the trip with a little bit of depleted line-up. Missing was one of their top scorers and some girls were feeling the effects of illness, which resulted in Stitch King loosing all three of their games and not scoring a goal the entire weekend. However, according to Stitch King Head Coach John Fabbro, the weekend was a success for the team!!! The girls played well, pizza was good, pool was warm, hotel was great and the girls had a blast.

Bantam Division teams Riuniti Banquet Halls, Station Mall and Christie's Camper Sales also made the trip to Midland Michigan, while Soo Sports Excellence ventured a little further south to Windsor to play in the Windsor Wild Tournament.

Best Western

BW had a goal disallowed in the second and still tied at 1-1 heading into the 3rd. The gold medal game would not disappoint, BW would face London team 2 who was also undefeated. With play going end to end and great chances at both ends the game could go either way. Jessica Masters would have the opportunity to give BW the lead on a penalty shot, she would beat the goalie on a nice deke but would ring it off the post. Still tied 0-0 and heading for OT Katie Litalien would score the winner , picking the top corner with .40 seconds remaining in the game.
