On Thursday April 20, 2006 the Sault College Athletic Department hosted their annual Athletic Awards Night. The night brought closure to the varsity and intramural programs for the 2005-2006 season, highlighting the past years accomplishments by students both in sport and in the classroom.

Award recipients were as follows:

INTRAMURALS

Ron Bridge Award – For the Sault College Intramural Male and Female Athlete displaying both a high degree of skill and outstanding sportsmanship.

Male: Shawn Cuglietta Female: Meghan Miller

Intramural Participant of the Year – This award is presented to a male and female who has participated in the majority of events throughout the school year.

Male: Sean Brown Female: Nisha Pierre

VARSITY

Women's Volleyball

Rookie of the Year – Katrina Zantinge Academic Achievement – Sarah Miller & Amanda Towell Most Improved Player – Amanda Towell Most Sportsmanlike Player – Kelly Roussell Most Valuable Player – Nicole Beauchamp & Kari-Lyn Chamberlain Referee's Award – Ashley Whitmell

Men's Basketball

Rookie of the Year – Ryan Vetrie Academic Achievement – Neil Joy Most Improved Player – Andrew Turgeon Most Sportsmanlike Player – Nathan Whalen Most Valuable Player – Jean Louis Ouattara Referee's Award – Ryan Vetrie

Special Awards:

Tom White Award – presented to the varsity basketball player who shows the most commitment and dedication to the team.

J. Erron Williams Award – Presented to the student who demonstrates leadership, involvement in student life and athletics, school spirit, college pride, compassion and caring attitude

Gerry McGuire Cougar Contributor Award – Presented to a student for their extensive contribution of time and talent toward the operation of the Athletic Program.

Male: Jason McBain Female: Lee Ann LePage

Cougar Pride Award – Presented to the varsity athlete who best represents Sault College and the varsity program; while showing pride and dedication to their team.

Male: Mike Bouchard Female: Katrina Zantinge

G.R. Hodgson Award – Presented annually to the student displaying athletic talent, academic proficiency, leadership and for outstanding contribution to the athletic program.

Male: Andrew Turgeon Female: Amanda Towell

Joe Williams Builder Award – Presented to an individual for the development and advancement of Sault College Athletic Programs and Services.

Female Athlete of the Year – Presented to the Female Athlete who best displays outstanding ability, leadership, sportsmanship and efficient academic standing.

Ross Bachert Male Athlete of the Year – Presented to the Male Athlete who best displays outstanding ability, leadership, sportsmanship and efficient academic standing.
