*** COUGAR PROFILE OF THE WEEK:

Mike Bouchard

In his third year as a Cougar, Mike Bouchard only has one thing on his mind - effort. Bouchard, who is well known in Sault Ste Marie after an illustrious career with St Basil, will be using his experience to lead the way for the Sault College Men's Basketball team this season. As a 6 foot 4 center who can utilize his strength to gain position on opponents, Mike is expected to be a dominating player in the OCAA West Region.

"He has developed into a solid leader who uses his work effort to set examples for the other players," adds 4th year head coach Thomas Cory. " Bouch will be expected to use his experience and strength as an advantage over our opponents and hopefully that will give us an edge most games," Cory continues.

Last season Mike was awarded the honorary Tom White Award – an award was given to the individual with the most commitment and dedication to Men's basketball at Sault College. Going into his third year, he hopes to cap off his final year with another solid season and possibly a second playoff appearance in as many years.

Bouchard, along with the rest of the Sault College men's basketball team will be travelling to Sarnia this weekend to play the Lambton Lions and then over to Windsor to meet the St. Clair Saints.

*** COUGARS HIT THE ROAD:

Both Sault College varsity teams will travel this weekend for a pair of games vs. Lambton College (Sarnia) on Friday night and then over to Windsor on Saturday to play St Clair College.

The Basketball Cougars are 1-1 heading into this important swing trip that, depending on the outcome, could have a major bearing on the season. Lambton has always been a difficult contest for the Cougars while a rematch with the St Clair Saints should provide an early indication of who could lead the OCAA West Region.

In Volleyball action, the Lady Cougars (0-2) will be looking for their first win of the year as the also take on Lambton and St Clair. The team gained some confidence after their tough 3 -2 loss to division power Fanshawe Falcons last weekend and are hoping their solid play will continue on the road trip.

*** GAME CANCELLED AGAINST ALPENA:

Tuesday's exhibition basketball game between the Cougars and Alpena has been cancelled.
