LONDON -- A new era of Sault Sabercats football began on Saturday night in exciting fashion as the locals rolled past the London Falcons to open the Ontario Varsity Football League season.

Under the direction of new head coach Cale Krezek, emerging quarterback John Mullin, an all-star receiving corps and pressure defense, the Sabercats rallied from a 14-0 deficit to claim a 34-14 win.

The Sabercats got off to a rough start as London connected for a 75 yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage.

On the Sabercats' next play from scrimmage, the officials were forced to clear the field and fans from the metal bleachers at TD Waterhouse Stadium as a heavy thunderstorm hit the London area causing a 70 minute delay in action.

London struck quickly after the delay with a 92 yard punt return before the Sabercats took total control of the game in all areas.

Matt Premo caught two touchdown passes for the Sabercats while rushing majors were scored by Anthony Orazietti, Kofi Osei and Jourdan Morin.

Further details and photos will be added later on Monday.
