The final three weeks of the Ontario Football Conference season could lead to big things for the Sault Sabercats.

The Junior Varsity Sabercats have an opportunity to pick up its fourth consecutive win on Saturday as the team goes on the road to face the Huronia Stallions at the Barrie Sports Complex.

The Sabercats are coming off a 38-8 victory at home last weekend against the Sudbury Gladiators, a win that left the team at 3-1 heading into action against Huronia.

JV Sabercats Coach Steve Nott said following the win over Sudbury that confidence is beginning to grow.

“We tell them after every game that we feel they’re a championship football team,” Sabercats Coach Steve Nott said. “They’re starting to believe it.”

“When we get on the field with all of our guys (healthy), we’re going to be a hard team to stop,” Nott also said.

The JV Sabercats face Huronia at Superior Heights in week two. Mitchell DellaVedova had five touchdowns for the Sabercats in a 48-8 victory. Nott called the early-season win over Huronia “a hard-working effort” that came after a disappointing week one loss to Peterborough.

Huronia enters the game with a 2-2 record after a 44-17 loss last weekend to Peterborough on the road.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

For the Varsity Sabercats, Saturday will be an opportunity to win its third straight game as the team faces the Oakville Titans on the road.

After dropping the opening two games of the season, the Varsity Sabercats picked up a win on the road in week three over the Vaughan Rebels and at home last weekend against the Sudbury Gladiators.

The Sabercats felt the win over Sudbury was a must-win game and the team was confident coming out of the game.

Quarterback Ryan Yost had a big game in the win over Sudbury, rushing for 123 yards and passing for 124 in the Sabercats 23-14 victory over the Gladiators.

The effort led to Yost being named the OFC offensive player of the week for week four.

Oakville enters the game with an 0-4 record. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Bronte Athletic Park in Oakville.
