St. Basil is still unbeaten within the senior division of the girls high school basketball league but the Mount St. Joseph Royals gave the Saints a scare Thursday night. Melissa Stumpo scored 11 points, offsetting 21 from Julia Colizza, as the Saints improved to 7-0 with a 53-48 win over the Royals, who fell to 1-6. In other action:

Jen Muio netted seven points as the St. Mary's Knights improved to 6-1 with a 29-21 decision over the Sir James Dunn Eagles. And the Bawating Braves created a three-way tie with White Pines and Sir James Dunn by edging the Wolverines 32-31 on a late basket by Nicole Fergus. Kristen Timusk led the Braves with 10, while Amanda Evans topped the Wolverines with 12. Bawating, White Pines and the Dunn are all 3-4. Korah, with a record of 1-5, was idle on Thursday.
