The local Black Sox team made it to the semi-finals this past weekend in Burlington in the Major Pee Wee Baseball Tournament.

Mrs B's started the tournament with a win over North York 10-3. Alex Morrison posted the win with seven strikeouts over three innings while Kris Kerr secured the victory.

In the second game, the Black Sox tied the host Burlington Bulls 3-3. Marc Rouleau got the win with four strong innings pitched and seven strikeouts along with a strong defensive effort by all the players.

In the final round robin game, the Soo won 11-5 over the Merriton Bulldogs. Collin McAuley picked up the win with four strikeouts over the final 2 1/3 innings. Lucas Turpin lead the offense going 3-for-3 and Brandon Hansen went 2-for-3 at the plate.

The semi-finals and finals were cancelled when heavy rains came down and made the field too wet to continue.

The weekend before, Mrs. B's competed in the annual Rudyard Tournament. Two games were played on Saturday before rain again washed out Sunday's finals.

The first game was a loss to Rudyard 11-9 and a second game a loss to Kalkaska 16-6.

The Black Sox played very well considering the teams in the tournamanet were 14-16 years of age while the Sox are 11-13 years of age.
