Premiere League soccer action continued on Wednesday night at Tom Tipton field as U-Betcha took on the Under-17 Boys Civics team.

With less than a month before the playoffs begin, U-Betcha is in a dogfight with the Bavarian Inn for second place behind Croatia.

U-Betcha got off to a quick start and built up a 4-0 lead after the first half and cruised to a 7-1 win on this night.

Georgios Maninos was the offensive catalyst for U-Betcha showing why he is one of the Premiere League's top scorers as he scored four times in the victory. Anthony Posteraro, Mike Cuglietta and Mike Rugaczewski all added singles in the victory.

For the Civics, who were forced to play the game with just one sub due to a number of players being out of town or having other commitments on the night, Jordan Murtoneen scored the lone goal with his goal coming late in the second half to break to U-Betcha shutout bid.

Action will continue on Friday night at Tom Tipton field as U-Betcha will be back in action as they get set to take in Premiere League leaders Croatia at 6:30 p.m.

Premiere League regular season action runs through Aug. 28. The playoffs are set for Aug. 29 through Sept. 1, with the championship game set for Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Tom Tipton field.

A full schedule as well as standings and scoring leaders can be found on the league's official website. A link to the site can be found on the SooToday.com Sports Page.
