Possamai, Bonenfant successful at Special Olympic Games

The Special Olympics Ontario Summer Games were held in Niagara Falls last week for the first time since Sault Ste. Marie hosted the event in 2001 with two local athletes qualified for this year's competition.

The Special Olympics Ontario Summer Games were held in Niagara Falls last week for the first time since Sault Ste. Marie hosted the event in 2001 with two local athletes qualified for this year's competition.

Kevin Possamai, who was competing in his first provincial games, won gold in the 400m and 200m dashes, silver in the 100m dash and shot put along with a bronze medal in the running long jump.

Kristen Bonenfant, who was competing in her second track provincial and fourth provincial overall, won gold in the 400m, silver in the 200m, bronze in the 100m and placed fourth in the shot put.
