Sault Ste. Marie North Stars forward Brett Perlini is staying very close to home as the local product was selected in the third round, 41st overall by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

"I'm ecstatic," said the Stars forward less than an hour after he saw his name pop up on the OHL internet Draft screen.

"Playing in your hometown is great and I can't wait to get on the ice."

Perlini was a bit surprised that he slipped into the third round but he says getting drafted by the local team takes away any of that disappointment.

"I thought I had a chance go early (1st or 2nd round) but it doesn't matter, I'm just glad the Greyhounds picked me," he said.

Perlini scored 20 goals and added 20 assists in his rookie season with the North Stars and was one of the Stars top players during the Central Region Midget AAA Championships held in North Bay in early April.
