Ontario Hockey League playoff update

Just one series remains to be decided in the first round of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.

The Plymouth Whalers will host the Windsor Spitfires in a seventh and deciding game on Tuesday night.

On Sunday, the Sudbury Wolves upended the Kingston Frontenacs 4-0 to win their best-of-seven series 4-2 while Peterborough nipped the Ottawa 67's 3-2 to also capture a 4-2 series victory. The Spitfires avoided elimination with a 7-4 win.

Fredrik Naslund scored twice and Steve Downie added the game winner for Peterborough while Sault product Matt Dias scored once and goaltender Kevin Beech stopped all 33 shots for Sudbury. Paul McFarland and Cal O'Reilly each scored once and added two assists for Windsor.

On Saturday, the Brampton Battalion ended their series with Belleville in six games with a 5-2 win. Wojtek Wolski and Jason Cassidy scored two goals each in the win.

Also on Saturday, Plymouth grabbed a 3-2 series lead with a 3-2 win as Tom Sesito scored a pair for the Whalers.

In the second round, the Peterborough Petes will meet Sudbury while Brampton faces the Barrie Colts in the eastern conference.

In the western conference, should the Spitfires win, the London Knights would face Windsor with the Guelph Storm meeting the Owen Sound Attack. Should Plymouth win, the Knights would meet Owen Sound and Plymouth would play Guelph.
