NOSSA track championships conclude (Day 2 results)

The qualifiers from the North Region have all been determined as the NOSSA Track and Field Championships wrapped up on Friday in Sault Ste. Marie.

When all was said and done late on Friday afternoon, Sir James Dunn again showed how strong the school’s track and field program really is by wrapping up top spot in the overall team rankings by scoring 497 points over the two-day event.

Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS) finished a distant second with 230 points.

Friday saw a number of Dunn athletes wrap up top spot in their events. Holley Dailey earned top spot in the Women’s (Midget) 100 Meter Dash while Shannon Delarosbil won the Women’s (Midget) 1500 Meter Run.

Other SJD athletes to win their respective events on Friday include the Women’s (Midget) 4x100 Meter Relay team of Erin Ratelle, Kendra Wetzl, Allison Marinish and Dailey; Sierra Rutland, who won the Women’s (Junior) 800 meter run and the Women’s (Junior) 1500 meter run.

Dominik Graf, who competed in and won the Men’s (Midget) 800 meter and 1500 meter run on Friday to go along with his victory in the Men’s (Midget) 3000 meter run from Thursday; the Dunn’s Men’s (Midget) 4x100 meter relay team of Ryan Poser, Eric and Patrick Noland and Colin Kimball; Reg Peer won the Men’s (Junior) 800 meter run.

Other Sault athletes to find their way into the winners circle included:

* Jessica Nanne of St. Mary’s in the Women’s (Midget) 200 Meter Dash

* Stevie Reville of St. Mary’s in the Women’s (Midget) 400 Meter Dash and the Women’s (Midget) 800 Meter Run

* Lauren Wonzy of St. Basil in the Women’s (Midget) Shot Put and Women’s (Midget) Javelin Throw

* Tiffany Senko of St. Mary’s in the Women’s (Junior) Long Jump

* Darris Ford of CASS in the Women’s (Junior) 100 Meter Dash

* The St. Basil Team of Kylie Rains, Danielle Seaton, Rachel Cobean, and Kaelah Zeppa in the Women’s (Senior) 4x100 Meter Relay

* Holly Maskell of White Pines in the Women’s (Senior) Discus Throw

* Deanna Buonomo of Mount St. Joseph in the Women’s (Senior) Javelin Throw

* Jeffrey Tremblay of St. Mary’s in the Men’s (Midget) 100 Meter Dash and the Men’s (Midget) 200 Meter Dash

* MacKenzie Cook of Korah in the Men’s (Midget) Long Jump

* Nick Peters of White Pines in the Men’s (Junior) 100 Meter Dash and Men’s (Junior) 200 Meter Dash

* Brooke Moreau of CASS in the Men’s (Junior) Triple Jump

* Jordan Verdone of St. Mary’s in the Men’s (Junior) Discus Throw

* Nigel Roedde of CASS in the Men’s (Senior) 400 Meter Dash

* Tysen Vanderloo of Korah in the Men’s (Senior) 110 Meter Hurdles

* Ryan Kent of CASS in the Men’s (Senior) 400 Meter Hurdles

* The CASS Team made up of Shawn Siemers, Corey Marques, Nigel Roedde, and Ryan Kent in the Men’s (Senior) 4x400 Meter Relay
