North Stars win big again to go ahead 2-0

The Soo North Stars look to be making short work of the North Bay Trappers. Less than a day after whipping the Trappers 12-1, the North Stars easily handed the visitors a 9-2 setback on Sunday afternoon at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Less than a day after whipping the Trappers 12-1, the North Stars easily handed the visitors a 9-2 setback on Sunday afternoon at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The two wins give the North Stars a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five Great North Midget League semi-final series.

The series now shifts to North Bay next weekend for game three on Saturday at 7:20 p.m. and game four, if necessary, on Sunday at 1:20 p.m.

Jarrett Burton, Matt Amadio, Mike Rivard and Jerry Petingalo scored two goals each for the North Stars. Luke O'Brien also scored and set up another, Burton picked up two assists while Rivard and Amadio set up one goal each. Kevin Smith had four assists, Drew MacMillan and Brett Thompson three each.

Thomas Gravelines recorded the win in goal for the North Stars in both games.
