The Soo North Stars were all business this past weekend at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Hosting the Timmins Majors in Great North Midget League action, the North Stars routed their opponents 8-2 and 10-1 to improve to 11-0-0-1 on the season and remain tied for first place with the Valley Easy Cobras.

In the 8-2 win on Sunday afternoon, Jarrett Burton paced the offense with four goals and an assist. Brett Thompson scored twice and added three assists while singles went to Anthony Colizza and Matt Amadio. Micky Sartoretto set up three goals while Kevin Smith, Kevin Mills and Luke O'Brien recorded two assists each. Justin Hogsden took the win in goal.

In the 10-1 thumping on Saturday, the North Stars scored six power play goals and added another shorthanded.

Colizza and Mike Rivard scored two goals each with singles going to Kevin Closs, Mills, Bronson Kovacs, Thompson, Burton and Smith. Sartoretto, Smith, Mills, Josh Cerasuolo, O'Brien and Chris Hales assisted twice each while Rivard, Colizza and Thompson also added helpers. Thomas Gravelines picked up the win in goal.

The North Stars hit the road next weekend for a first place showdown with Valley East (11-2-1-0) and then a match with Rayside-Balfour (3-7-2-0).

Following the GNML road trip, the Stars participate in the Big Nickel Tournament in Sudbury November 2-5.

Next home action for the North Stars is November 11-12 when they host the Kapuskasing Flyers. Game times are Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Rhodes.
