NEWS RELEASE

SOO NORTH STARS

***************************

The Sault Ste. Marie North Stars play their second set of home games this weekend, October 13 and 14, after having the Thanksgiving weekend off. The Stars will take a record of 7-1-0-0 which is good for second place in the Great North Midget League standings up against the New Liskeard Cubs who have a record of 0-5-0-0 and are currently sitting in the Great North Midget League cellar.

For the season so far the Stars have scored 74 goals and have allowed 14, 29 of those goals have been on the power play, while 7 were scored while short-handed and they have only allowed 6 goals while penalty killing. At the current rate the Stars have scored 39% of their goals on the power play and another 10% short-handed, creating opportunities every time there has been a man difference on the ice. The special teams have been a force on the power play and short-handed all season and all indications show that the special teams are improving with every practice.

Come on out this weekend and support your local home grown midget team. Please note that Saturday’s game is set for a six o’clock start while Sunday’s game will start at two o’clock. Both games are at the John Rhodes Community Complex on rink two.
