North Stars take two more wins

The Soo North Stars improved to 6-0 on the Great North Midget League season with two more wins over the weekend at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The North Stars completed the weekend sweep of Kirkland Lake with an 8-1 win on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday night, the locals scored a 6-1 victory over the 87's.

On Sunday, Jerry Petingalo and Mike Rivard scored two goals each for the North Stars while singles went to Kurtis Travaglini, Anthony Colizza, Chris Hales and Micky Sartoretto.

Rivard assisted on two goals for a four point night while Alex Cruise, Josh Cerasuolo and Luke O'Brien also picked up two assists each. Petingalo and Colizza assisted on one goal each.

On Saturday, the North Stars trailed 1-0 after one period but scored twice in the second and four times in the third period for the victory.

Colizza, Travaglini, Matt Amadio, Cerasuolo, Jarrett Burton and Petingalo provided the scoring. O'Brien and Travaglini assisted on two goals each while Cerasuolo and Petingalo each set up one.

The North Stars are back in action next weekend as they host the New Liskeard Cubs for a pair of games at the Rhodes. Game times are 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
