North Stars take two more on the road

The Soo North Stars captured two more Great North Midget League road wins over the weekend to improve to 8-0 on the season. On Saturday, the North Stars outshot Kirkland Lake 56-23 in a 6-0 win before scoring an 8-2 victory over New Liskeard.

The Soo North Stars captured two more Great North Midget League road wins over the weekend to improve to 8-0 on the season.

On Saturday, the North Stars outshot Kirkland Lake 56-23 in a 6-0 win before scoring an 8-2 victory over New Liskeard.

Brett Perlini and Tyler Liukkonen led the North Stars in their win over Kirkland Lake with two goals and an assist each. Dean Howard added a goal and an assist while Dan Vernelli scored another. Jerry Pentingalo, Trevor McNutt and Adam Pyymaki recorded two assists each.

Ryan Dube recorded his third shutout of the season and now has a 0.88 goals against average in eight appearances. The North Stars have only given up seven goals in eight outings.

In New Liskeard, Howard scored twice and added an assist while singles went to Vernelli, who added a helper, Mike Rivard, McNutt, who also added two assists, and Pyymaki. Liukkonen recorded three assists.

The North Stars return to John Rhodes Community Centre next weekend for a first place battle with the Sudbury Nickel Capitals (8-1). Game times are 7 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
