North Stars take silver at Gold Puck

The North Stars finished the Gold Puck Tournament with a silver medal this year.

Ajax-Pickering defeated the Stars by a score of 7-4 in the final. The game was an extremely poor exhibition of officiating with 126 minutes in penalties to the North Stars and 22 minutes to Ajax-Pickering.

Scoring for the North Stars were:

1. Tyler Evoy from Gregory Sartoretto and Zac LaRue at 8:45 of the second period on the power play. 2. Nicholas Romano from Christopher Buonomo and Kurtis Travaglini at 7:56 of the second period on the power play. 3. Gregory Sartoretto from Luke O'Brien at 11:41 of the third period on the power play. 4. Gregory Sartoretto from David Quesnele and Dylan Connolly at 6:52 of the third on the power play. Out of the 7 goals Ajax scored, 4 were on the power play, 2 at regular strength and 1 into an empty net. The North Stars defeated the North York Rangers in a semi-final game by a score of 4-3.

The Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves lost their semi final to Ajax-Pickering by a score of 6-0.

Scoring for the Stars were:

1. Zac LaRue from Tyler Hawdon at 14:42 of the first period. 2. Tyler Evoy from Christopher Buonomo at 9:52 of the second period on the power play. 3. Zac LaRue unnassisted at 14:19 of the third period. 4. Luke O'Brien from Zac LaRue at 10:20 of the third period while shorthanded.

Next action for the North Stars is this weekend at home when they play the Nickel City Sons in a pair of games at the Rhodes Arena. Saturday's game is at 6:00pm and Sunday's game is at 2:00pm.
