The Soo North Stars came out of the holiday break with a pair of big road wins against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in Great North Midget League action.

On Wednesday night, the North Stars opened with a 7-2 win before following with a 2-1 overtime victory on Thursday afternoon.

Brett Thompson fired four goals past the Wolves in the 7-2 win while Anthony Colizza potted a pair and Bronson Kovacs notched another. Mike Rivard, Jarrett Burton, Kurtis Travaglini and Alex Cruise set up two goals each while Justin Hogsden picked up the win in goal.

On Thursday, Matt Amadio set up Thompson for the game winner 2:14 into the extra frame. Amadio added a shorthanded goal in the second period. Thomas Gravelines picked up the win in goal.

The North Stars are back in action next week at the local Steel City International Hockey Tournament beginning Thursday.
