North Stars split weekend set in Nickel City

The Soo North Stars lost a close one Sunday afternoon in Sudbury by a score of 3-2 to the hands of the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves. The Stars had a 1-0 lead after one period, 2-1 lead after two periods and the final of 3-2.

The Soo North Stars lost a close one Sunday afternoon in Sudbury by a score of 3-2 to the hands of the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves.

The Stars had a 1-0 lead after one period, 2-1 lead after two periods and the final of 3-2.

Bronson Kovacs had the two North Stars goals, both on booming slap shots from the point.

The scoring summary for the stars was: 1. Bronson Kovacs from Michael Schug at 1:02 of the first period. 2. Bronson Kovacs from Christopher Buonomo and Nicholas Romano at 6:20 of the second on the power play. The North Stars won on the road Saturday night with a 6-1 score over the Nickel City Sons.

The North Stars scored one on the power play and two shorthanded in a game that saw the home team take 72 minutes in penalties and 24 going to the North Stars. Justin Hogsden was in goal for the win.

Scoring for the North Stars tonight were: 1. Michael Schug from Luke O'Brien and Dylan Connolly at 16:18 of the second period. 2. Tyler Hawdon from Zac LaRue and Gregory Sartoretto at 2:31 of the second period. 3. Kurtis Travaglini from Gregory Sartoretto and Tyler Evoy at 16:37 of the third period on the power play. 4. Luke O'Brien from Josh Cerasuolo at 6:57 of the third period while short handed. 5. Luke O'Brien from Tyler Evoy and Kurtis Travaglini at 3:25 of the third period. 6. Kurtis Travaglini unassisted while short handed at 0:22 of the third period.
