North Stars pick up two more road wins

The Soo North Stars grabbed a pair of Great North Midget League road victories over the weekend on a northern swing. On Saturday, the North Stars edged Kirkland Lake 2-1 before rolling past the New Liskeard Cubs 7-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Soo North Stars grabbed a pair of Great North Midget League road victories over the weekend on a northern swing.

On Saturday, the North Stars edged Kirkland Lake 2-1 before rolling past the New Liskeard Cubs 7-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Anthony Colizza and Drew MacMillan scored twice in Sunday's win while singles went to Matt Amadio, Bronson Kovacs and Luke O'Brien. Colizza added a pair of assists as did Brett Thompson and Mike Rivard.

Thompson scored both North Star goals on Saturday while Justin Hogsden picked up the win in goal.

Next action for the North Stars is this weekend when they travel to Waterloo to defend their back-to-back championsips at the Gold Puck Tournament.

Next home action is December 16 and 17 when Rayside Balfour comes to town for a pair of games at the John Rhodes Community Centre. Game times are Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
