North Stars open Big Nickel with win

The Soo North Stars are off to a winning start at the Sudbury Big Nickel Major AAA Hockey Tournamnet.

The Soo North Stars are off to a winning start at the Sudbury Big Nickel Major AAA Hockey Tournamnet.

In their opening game on Thursday night, the North Stars used an unassisted goal by Kevin Mills and another score from Derrek Coccimiglio set up by Jacob Chiblow to defeat the Toronto Young Nationals 2-1.

The North Stars are back in action with two games on Friday beginning with a match against the Nepean Raiders at 2 p.m. followed by a contest with the Brampton Battalion at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the locals play Oshawa Don Cherry's at 5 p.m.

Included in the tournament are the major bantam Soo Thunder, whose game results against the Toronto Red Wings were not readily available.
