North Stars open Big Nickel on a winning note

The Soo North Stars opened the annual Big Nickel Hockey Tournament in Sudbury on Thursday night with a 6-0 win over the Quinte Red Devils.

The Soo North Stars opened the annual Big Nickel Hockey Tournament in Sudbury on Thursday night with a 6-0 win over the Quinte Red Devils.

Thomas Gravelines recorded the shutout in goal while Jerry Petingalo led the offense with two goals and an assist. Jarrett Burton, Matt Amadio, Brett Thompson and Mike Rivard rounded out the scoring.

The locals are back in action with two games on Friday beginning with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against the Guelph Jr. Storm. At 6:30 p.m., the North Stars face Great North Midget League rival Timmins.
