North Stars off to good start at Gold Puck Tournament

The Soo North Stars opened the Gold Puck Tournament in Kitchener/Waterloo on Friday with a win and a tie. In the opening game, the North Stars edged the Ajax/Pickering Raiders 4-3.

In the opening game, the North Stars edged the Ajax/Pickering Raiders 4-3. Mark Hoffman, Trevor McNutt, Adam Pyymaki and Dean Howard scored in the win. McNutt and Hoffman also added assists.

Later against the Gloucester Rangers, the North Stars battled to a 1-1 draw with Pyymaki scoring the lone Soo goal.

The North Stars are back in action on Saturday with a pair of games. At 12:30 p.m., the locals play the Whitby Wildcats before meeting the Sun County Panthers at 6:30 p.m.
