North Stars make it a quarterfinal sweep

The Soo North Stars have advanced to the Great North Midget League semi-finals after taking care of the New Liskeard Cubs in three straight games.

The Soo North Stars have advanced to the Great North Midget League semi-finals after taking care of the New Liskeard Cubs in three straight games.

In game three of the best-of-five quarterfinal series in New Liskeard, the North Stars outshot the Cubs 43-16 and skated to a 4-1 win.

Jarrett Burton scored a goal and added two assists to lead the North Stars while Chris Hales chipped in a goal and an assist. Brett Thompson and Bronson Kovacs also scored while Drew MacMillan set up a pair. Thomas Gravelines picked up the win in goal.

The North Stars will now be off until next Saturday, when they open the semi-finals at the John Rhodes Community Centre against an opponent yet to be determined. Game time is 7 p.m. Game two is scheduled for the Rhodes the next day at 1 p.m.
