The Soo North Stars experienced their first Great North Midget League loss in regulation time on Sunday afternoon at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and never looked back on their way to a 4-1 win over the Stars.

Kurtis Travaglini scored the lone goal for the North Stars in the second period.

Despite the loss, the North Stars sit on top of the GNML standings with an 18-1-0-1 record for 37 points. The locals hold a six point lead over the Valley East Cobras and a seven point advantage on Sudbury.

Next action for the North Stars will be on the road next weekend against Kirkland Lake on Saturday and New Liskeard on Sunday. The following weekend the Stars travel to Waterloo to defend their Gold Puck Tournament championship.

Next home action is December 16 and 17 when the Rayside Balfour Sabrecats visit the Rhodes for a pair of games.
