The Soo North Stars completed back-to-back series sweeps to open the Great North Midget League season.

On Sunday afternoon at the John Rhodes Community Centre, the North Stars defeated the North Bay Trappers 5-2, a win that followed a 7-1 victory on Saturday night and improves the team's record to 4-0.

Last weekend, the North Stars swept the Kapuskasing Flyers on the road.

Brett Thompson, Luke O'Brien, Mike Rivard, Kevin Closs and Anthony Colizza scored in Sunday's win. Jarrett Burton recorded a pair of assists.

Liam Berti and James Olivier scored for the Trappers.

The North Stars are back in action next weekend as Kirkland Lake visits the Rhodes for games on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
