The Soo North Stars offense went to work in a pair of lopsided wins against the Valley East Cobras over the weekend.

In Great North Midget League action at the John Rhodes Community Centre, the North Stars opened with a 6-1 victory on Saturday night before completing the sweep with a 9-4 win on Sunday afternoon.

Jarrett Burton and Brett Thompson scored twice each and assisted on another to pace the North Stars in Sunday's win. Bronson Kovacs picked up a goal and two assists while Anthony Colizza, Mike Rivard and Drew MacMillan each scored once and added an assist. Kurtis Travaglini rounded out the scoring while Kevin Smith set up three goals.

On Saturday, Burton again scored twice and added an assist while Colizza also potted a pair of goals. Rivard and Travaglini scored, Jerry Petingalo assisted three times while Kevin Mills and MacMillan set up two goals each.

Next action for the North Stars is on Wednesday in Sudbury against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves.

The locals return home February 10-11 when they host the Nickel Capital Wolves on the final weekend of the regular season.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin the weekend of February 17-18 with the North Stars opening at home. A playoff opponent has yet to be determined.
